  • Azalea
    This is a common flowing shrub that has been bred and seen in homes for centuries together. The flowers of the shrub are bright and last for several weeks, adding to the plant’s glam factor. However, these are houseplants that are toxic for cats. In fact, all species of this plant are considered poisonous. Cats, when they nibble on the leaves or stem of the plant, can fall sick and can exhibit symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, hypotension, and hyper-salivation. Excess consumption of the plant can also lead to death.
  • Aloe vera
    This beautiful plant can be grown both indoors and outdoors and is also used medicinally for certain human ailments. The gel of the plant is harmless for both humans and pets. However, the latex or the white sap surrounding the gel can cause diarrhea, an upset stomach, and severe dehydration in cats. It is better to not have this plant at home when you have a curious cat roaming around.

This is a dangerous plant to have at home when you have cats, as all parts of the plant, including the leaves, flowers, pollen, and stem are poisonous for them. Renal tubular necrosis or kidney damage occurs about 1-3 days after ingestion. Common symptoms before kidney damage are lethargy, vomiting, excessive thirst, and dehydration.

    Mistletoe is a holiday plant that is used a lot during the Christmas season. Many people also grow the plant for its beauty. The leaves and berries of this plant are very harmful when ingested by your pet. On the list of houseplants that are toxic for cats, this plant definitely finds a prominent place. The symptoms of mistletoe poisoning include abdominal pain, diarrhea, drop in blood pressure, and even breathing difficulties.
  • Daffodils
    Growing daffodils indoors yields beautiful flowers that have a pleasant smell. If your cat consumes the flowers or just takes a bite of the bulbs, the result could be kidney failure.
